Concerts in Cologne: Raphael Saadiq

On Friday we’ve spent our evening at the “Gloria Theater” in Cologne and enjoyed Raphael Saadiq live in concert. This concert was the greatest I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Awesome show!
They’ve transformed Cologne into Motown City, with their songs, with their performance and with their authenticity. I am still totally stunned…
I hope that somebody will provide us with some video material in the next days to get an impression of what I’ve felt yesterday. Thanks for this beautiful concert!

Highly recommended: The Phenomenal Handclap Band

My new discovery: The Phenomenal Handclap Band on Truth & Soul with their first release “Baby”.

“The PHB’s sound is an anthemic, dancefloor-oriented blend of progressive rock, disco, electro, and ’60s soul with sprinklings of hip hop-styled orchestral breakbeats and moody, synth-heavy hooks.”

Go here, listen and receive further details about PHB. Highly recommend!

Concerts in Cologne: Fredrika Stahl

Last Sunday I’ve spent the evening at the 672 in Cologne and enjoyed the Fredrika Stahl concert. Fredrika, she is from sweden, sings something between Jazz and Pop, her voice is awesome (elegant/natural) and yes she is also pretty beautiful. 100% pure talent.
She performed a good show, nothing spectacular, but duly completed with great and beautiful songs, an easy-going atmosphere and an authentic sympathy to her audience - something special. Thanks.

I’ve much appreciated her up-tempo cover version of Stevie Wonders Pastime Paradise. I like the original one, but her version is such drifty and should be available on a limited 45. Please. Altogether a great evening with an extra round.

So what’s next? John Legend, followed by Mr. Raphael Saadiq and Fleur Earth Experiment. YEAH! Stay tuned!
