Concerts in Cologne

The last weeks were filled with some cool concerts and tomorrow I’ll carry on…
I’ve started with The Roots, followed by Estelle on Monday, yesterday I had Another Day with Jamie Lidell and tomorrow I’ll be at the 672 (Cologne Stadtgarten) to see Flomega and the Ruffcats, Fleur Earth etc.
I’ve much appreciated the variety of musical artists here in cologne and in particular Jamie Lidell’s after show concert. Thanks!

Tuesday night…
“…I reorganize my record collection; I often do this at periods of emotional stress. There are some people who would find this a pretty dull way to spend an evening, but I’m not one of them. This is my life, and it’s nice to be able to wade in it, immerse your arms in it, touch it.” Nick Hornby - High Fidelity

Mocambo Records

Since two years I keep track on Mocambo Records from Hamburg/Germany. They’ve released a bunch of great limited 45s and there will be a lot of more brilliant output in future. Trust! My most favourite 45 is from the Paris-based band Soul Sugar (Ritual Pt. 1 & 2). In particular the flip side gives you a massive 4 min. breaks galore, with bongos and tight beats. This track is a must for every break DJ and Bboy. Awesome track!!! So because of the worldwide limitation of 300 copies for each release you should always keep in touch with Mocambo!

Dunham Records and the Menahan Street Band
Keep your eyes and ears wide open for Dunham Records a division of Daptone Records. Recently they released the Menahan Street Band with Make the Road by walking. Beautiful indeed! These are the contemporary artists which make my musical passion valuable.
“The Menahan Street Band is a collaboration of musicians from Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, El Michels Affair, Antibalas and the Budos Band, brought together by musician/producer Thomas Brenneck (Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Budos Band, Amy Winehouse)…”
For further information click here and visit their website. By the way…listen to the Dunham Records Podcast.
And trust me…don’t wait to long to buy this record. Trust!
